Pentax makes a good camera, but their high end digital options are non-existent. They've got a whole bunch of entry-level digital bodies, but no high end ones.
Vibration reduction in the lens works better and is easier to use than in the body because you can see it working and adjust for it. The most compensation IÂ’ve heard from people whoÂ’ve gotten from VR in camera is 2 stops. I can consistently get 4 stops on my VR lens. I looked on B&H for Pentax lenses and it looked pretty bleak. Looks like you'd need to get 3rd party lenses from sigma, tamron etc. to get an f/2.8 zoom.
But whatever, if the operation of the pentax makes more sense to you, than ok. I don't like Pentax cameras because they're small, and I find Nikons have more efficient operation.
It's all personal preference in the long run.
