harddisk physical error??

I wanted to defragment my Drive C: with system mechanic when they said that my drive contains some physical error and they told me to run scandisk.
But Im using XP Pro with SP2 and i dont think there is a scandisk.....so I clicked on properties of Drive C: and under the tools tab, i ran the check error thing.
However even after checking error is done, there's still the physical error thing when I try defragmenting it.
How do I solve it?

and I'd say you might still be getting errors, because the hard drive itself may be on its way out.
