"A California state senator said Monday that she was drafting legislation to block Google's free e-mail service, Gmail, because it would place advertising in personal messages after searching them for key words."

Question. Who is willing to let Google scan your E-mails to place relevant ads?
Is 1 gig of storage worth it? I say yes.

I've got 5 proper pop3 accounts, a hotmail account, 3 forwarding accounts and an imap account... so what would i possibly need another bloody email address for.... bah to google i say... bah to them all!

I'm not willing to let Google (of whom I hate with a passion) scan my emails. I also don't want stupid ads in my emails. And anymore, is one gig really that much? And free email is all over the place. I get free email service with my internet provider. I also have two Hotmail accounts. And I also plan on getting an Apple mail account when I buy my next mac.
I just really don't think it's necessary for a conglomorate to go through my stuff so they can get free advertisement.

You're sadly missing the fact that it has 1 GIG of storage. That's like 500,000 E-mail pages! Your hotmail account only holds like 3mb or whatever the hell it is. I see this Gmail as one serious upgrade.

yes, but really... How many flippin' emails are you really gonna keep? OR even expect to receive!!? 500,000 pages is worthless if you're not going to use them. The only way they're gonna get full is with spam and pornmail.

Look at it as a possible new form of pirating. If i have a free gig of storage i'm not only going to use it for E-mail. There a several uses for this service.

All email services are the same. The email part is free. But you have to pay for access to the internet. And from the internet you can access your email. But you still have to pay something!

Nothing is absolutely free.
