YouTube - Teen Girl Falls In Open Manhole While Texting

Funny. I mean. I don't really feel sorry for this girl. But, unfortunately, the DEP workers that removed the manhole cover and walked away from it without blocking it or putting up some type of marker, are at fault.

Girl falls into manhole while texting

HAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA

Sorry, but there is little little part of me that just finds this part hilariously funny.
Once again this is proof that human evolution is working.

On a serious note, I do have to question why the man hole was open in the first place with out some sort of railing or fence around it.
However at the same time, people who are mindless texting to some one while walking (or driving) are a hazard to every one including themselves.

In the end, i hope the parents don't win as I see it opening up a legal precedent where some one mindless walk into some one thing can legally sue. Sure the manhole should of been fenced off as just about any one could of falling into that. However lets say a building painter and a his ladder.

"...and Alexa lost one shoe."

I love how epic that sounds. You know what? I change my mind, this is retarded. The guys walked a few feet away to get cones and this retarded bimbo didn't notice a GAPING HOLE in the sidewalk because she was too busy texting her bff jill? No. NO.

I think the reason everyone finds it so retarded is because "texting" was thrown into the story.

What if this was a child that was playing and ran down the sidewalk and fell into the hole? What if it was a jogger that was jogging and fell into the hole? What if it was someone on a bicycle that was riding down the sidewalk and happened to be looking ahead at others on the sidewalk as to navigate around them?

SIDE NOTE: I remember this one time I was at the Mall. We saw this little boy walking with this parents. The kid was playing his Nintendo DS while walking through the mall. Head down, thumbs pounding away like mad. The notable thing was, "He was able to play his Nintendo DS and was able to navigate this body through the crowds without bumping into anyone." lol, he weaved through the crowd without looking up once. Now, if there was a hole in the floor would he have fallen through it?
May-be, but one thing is for sure, he somehow saw everything directly in front of him.

I don't find it retarded just because she was texting. I would find it retarded if anyone wasn't paying attention and fell down the hole. I don't understand how someone can miss a giant gaping hole in the sidewalk if they're actually paying attention. She says she would have been able to see big orange cones, but somehow I doubt it since her face was buried into texting.

If the guys had left the manhole uncovered and left the area, I would then say that they held at least SOME responsibility, because that's dangerous. But that doesn't EXCUSE this bimbo not paying attention. They walked 10 feet away to get cones, a few steps away.

Say this girl wanted to cross the street instead of falling down a manhole? If she walked in between a couple parked cars and into the street without paying attention? What if there's a car driving right there as she walks out and he doesn't have enough time to stop? I hardly think it's his fault that someone just walked out into the road right in front of him, and while it sucks that she got hit by a car, she should have been paying attention in the first place.

Parents teach kids to look both ways before you cross the road, and kids should take that to heart to mean JUST FRIGGIN PAY ATTENTION WHEN YOU WALK.

Whatever. This whole story is just starting to get on my nerves, the way it was covered and everything. The media eats **** like this up and plays on America's heartstrings because it's what gets ratings.

Also note, she wasnt walking alone....she was with her friend (who wasnt texting) so you mean to tell me that her friend (who didnt fall into the manhole) neglected to tell her that shes gonna fall??

Yet she was able to avoid falling into it herself??

*sniff sniff* I smell a frivolous lawsuit, and a college fund that's probably not going to go towards college.

But rather, to this.
