This is getting ridiculous

Anyone else had a sudden pick-up of malicious emails this month? I have been sent phishing sites (disguised as Blizzard) and many viruses in the form of shipping notifications. Luckily I have seen the shipping ones before a few years ago and did not open the "documents" that they contained.
Has anyone else noticed an increase in malicious emails?

my god yes, and the frickin spammer (the big one) reportetly got shut down and the spam stopped.... now it got worse....

yahoo mail has been craptastic lately. certain hosts are even blocked from sending anything legit to them... even CMS and forum notifications, burstnet's been fighting with yahoo especially.... but yet the spam comes from these chinese domains on amazon ec2 instances easy!

My main complaint regarding yahoo mail is that they block senders without ever telling you. This can make registering for some forums particularly difficult. I am debating changing my primary email address.

I've never noticed Yahoo! blocking any email? I always get my emails, sometimes they will end up in the Spam folder but I'll just mark them okay.

But yes, there has been a large amount of malicious spam, "supposedly" coming from either UPS, FedEx, USPS and Post Express Service. My filter has been getting hit with about 1000 a week from these guys. I thought it was part of the Rustock botnet cause when MS took it down last week the next day I was a few hundred spam messages off the norm and no notification from the quarantine. This went on for a few days but now for the past few I've re-gained those ~200 day.

Ever since Cutwail became more of a DDOS botnet though, my spam has been cut down literally 75% per day. I was up to ~10,000 a day.

I agree this is getting stupid, I checked a older account I use for throw aways and I have found over 1000 spam messages from the last 30 days... I AM NOT A HAPPY SAXON!

Well, just be thanking your lucky stars your spam folder in gmail doesn't peak up at 9000 messages every 2 weeks.
The only reason why I keep the spam for that long, yes registrations and some valid emails will get thrown in there by google from time to time.
Plus I like to see where in the **** the stuff is coming from and go right back to the source to see if they are a real website or not.

Most encounters I had with spam emails with website 50% had real websites just causing noise, others were the occasional absent website with a trap or 2 that I avoided fairly easily.
All in all I just ignore it not unless somebody I know is trying to contact me with information.

I have 1106 spam messages in my old GMail. Plus all my 2000 emails that haven't been put in the SPAM folder.

Not having a problem here...wonder why that is? Oh, prolly cause I'm not using Yahoo lol. My dad had this problem and would always complain to me. I was like...then get gmail?

On a more serious note, I have even noticed an increase in spam outside of the email box. For instance I sign into Myspace and literally a half second after logging out (was only logged in a minute tops) I would get an email stating I got 3 friend requests. All of which being porn BS. I've also noticed alot of spam in the less traffic type forums I frequent. It's getting a bit ridiculous I agree.
