Geek vs. Nerd

Inspired by the 2000 Over XP thread,

The question I have is what put GEEKs and NERDs apart.

My ideot PC flatmate mate still thinks that a GEEK is (in the tradional scene) a circle freak. Some days, I wish he wake up and smell the new millenium.

i think its down to personality... you can be into technology/computers and not be a geek or a nerd... i suppose its obsesiveness... like those who talk as if star trek is real or something that are nerds

i would say a nerd is someone who is obsessed with something to the point of knowing everything about it.

and a geek is someone who lives for certain things and knows a lot about it.

I wouldnt consider myself a geek or a nerd.

Almost all the punk rockers/heavy metal rockers (including myself) are computer geeks.

I think of both nerds and geeks as people with obsessive interests in math or science, but nerds by definition cannot have social skills.
