The US has a very similar rating system to the UK, we have a picture of a fist for violence or needle for drug taking, so the parents/gamers have a rough idea what to expect. But what's all the fuss over AO games like GTA:SA, I know the hot coffee mod changed the rating from "mature 17+" to "AO" but what I don't understand is why does the US frown on AO games?

Because we live in a culture where pornography is everywhere yet at the same time is looked down upon. The term "Adult" in the US is synonomous with XXX, therefore any AO game must have gratuitous (check spelling) sex involved in it, and parents don't want their kids playing games like that. Retailers (like Target and that awful place Walmart) are always trying to project a fmaily-friendly image and part of that is not carrying explicit content, such as AO games and controversial CDs. And once a game is rated AO, even if its just for violence, its on the same level here as sex simulations sold in creepy porn shops. Besides, the GTA series has long been blamed for violent acts by politicians. Once they found out that sex was involved in the game too they jumped all over it. Personally I think that re-rating the game was stupid. You had to download an extra fix (a mod, if you will) to unlock the Hot Coffee portion of the game. By the same logic The Sims 2 should be rated AO because you can download Nude Mods and Sex Mods for that game too. Sims 2 remains untouched and rated T however.

~Slightly off topic~

Jesus I was reading that article, $10,000 Abortion Tax on Clinics that perform Abortions. No Offence to any these people (sorry) but the Conserveite world, is so god damm stupid. What the feck imgaine you found out your 13 old daughter got pregnant, whould you let her have that baby, maybe, but what if you found that baby wasn't give to live a normal life as they whould be Baddly Desabled. Whould you still let the baby come, its time to live in the real world jerks! (sorry about rubbish spelling)

**** happens. Im for abortion cause i was almost in that situation. If i got stuck paying 10gs for that i would be in the hole and if i got stuck w/ a kid i would be in the hole. But then again it would teach guys (ro girls) to keep a cover on it.

Im even guilty of the condom thing myself. I was almost in that situation and me and her debted over and over whether to get an abortion or not. If we had to pay 10gs tax fee we would be screwed and my life would have been ruined on my own stupidity. Luckily she had a miscarriage.

I agree in abortions aswell. What if a woman is raped? is she going to have that baby. Even though she dosen't want it. If abortion was abolished or taxed $10,000 so ppl couldn't afford it, the worlds population would skyrocket and we would be in a world of hurt because the world is starting to run out of natural resources and if the population grows anymore who knows what will happen.
