yeah...hahaah don't...that would be bad, because i'm sure none of us wanna go out and buy a 80$ program

If you dont want them to take up that much space you can also convert them to a high quality Divx file and cut the size in half if not more. This is what I do...first you need the tools..

Download DVD Decryptor here:
http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/DVD_Decrypter/1011845169/1

Download GUI4FFMPEG here:
http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=gui4ffmpeg

Now we want to work with one large VOB file not the 1GB split it does to make a nice clean Divx file. Soo launch DVD Decrypter and go to TOOLS>SETTINGS>FILE MODE>FILE SPLITTING=NONE.

Then RIP the DVD to your hard drive it will be about 5GB.

Open GU4ffmpeg.exe, Browse to that VOB file you created, set the targer to MPEG4, then customize the displayed settings as needed. You can play around with this till you find your "sweet spot" I usually just convert for about 30 seconds, look at the file and if I like the settings I will keep them and RIP the entire thing. If it looks crappy quality then I will do it over and over until I found a resolution and bitrate I like.
