no not for me per se...

ok...so have a sister in law who is divorced. She is new to the country, doesn't speak much english. Me and my wife think it's a good idea if she can move closer to us and live nearby. She has 2 little kids.

What they have told me is that she can't move away if the husband is paying child support. But I think this is bogus right? I did a little net searching today and everything seems to back up the simple and plain assumption that you can go anywhere.

Now before any of you get riled up, if you are pro male and anti female having custody...the family found out he's gay, or at least into watching gay porn...so you can make valid assumptions. He got into the dressing up the son in little girl clothes for a bit. creepy

on a side note...any of you partake of that? You know, you say you're straight but you aren't actually straight? *looks around*

heehee and thanks ;)

May depend on the particular state. I would ring up a lawyer and ask.

FINALLY, a topic at which I am a bona-fide expert.
OK, this really depends on state laws but in Tennessee the custodial parent cannot move more than 100 miles from their current location unless they give 90 days notice, a VALID reason for the move, and inform the non-custodial parent that they have 30 days to contest the move in court. All this must be mailed via certified, registered mail to the non-custodial parent. Usually the judge will OK the move but make the parents agree to some compromise for visitation and transportation. If the guy is acting weird like that and the judge thinks it is bad for the child, he could grant restricted visitation. Go here Michie's Legal Resources and look up the state.
