Criminalizing P2P

I mainly use P2P to get the stuff that I can not get normally.
Eg. Comic Books, really new anime shows from Japan, TV shows that are not even brought down here on DVD (let alone cable.)

Well im not gonna lie about it, i download whaever whenever. If i hear a song on the radio and i like it, im gonna download it. No one is going to stop me. What do they think? do they think if they scare the public enough,, one day everyone is going to go "hey guys, come on, lets stop." Yeah right, while reading that and wrighting this, im downloading over 20+ mp3s. And ill tell you, the government can kiss my ass.

The only reason that guy is doing all this is because someone wrote him a check for 150 grand. I would act like a pupet if someone wrote ME a check for that amount.

My views are this. If you like the just the one song from the band. Then download it as singles are terribly over priced. But if you like the entire album (and it's easly avalable), then get it.
As for people that download movies that you can easily get from the store. I find that is silly as with the amount of time that it takes for a movie download , I might as well go up to a video store and buy it on DVD or Rent it out.

However, I don't like it how the record and DVD companies are over charging the consumer. If they can lower the price, the people might consider buy them.

Some of the things that I don't like is the the fine for illeagally downloading music is far greater than using pirated software. And I feel that the software pirates are doing more damage. Like $10 000 for a home user with pirated music compaired with $5000 if the person had a pirated copy of windows.

As for this garbage about child porn and terrorist activies via the P2P networks.. .yeah right. The people that are normally into that sort of behavoir normally have their own methods of distribution. Eg. Email or Private FTP.

In the end, you might be able to slow down the movement of copywrited materal, but you will never stop it.

I dont see the people the RIAA sued as little terrorists. They were computer illiterates who didnt know how to hide thier IP. I do not share mp3's - i understand this goes against P2P but i dont share them because im at a college that discurages the use of p2p but still lets us do it.

I think that downloading singles and hard-to-find stuff is fine (hell, I've done it, too) but when you start downloading entire albums and movies, it just gets ridiculous. It's disrespectful to the dozens (if not hundreds) of people who worked on them. How would you feel if someone downloaded your album or your computer game without paying for it? Wouldn't you want to be compensated for 10 months of hard work?

I wouldn't mind that much, it means people like it!
If I made some really good software, I wouldn't charge hundreds of dollars, I'd charge maybe $5-10 so that everybody is gonna buy it, or maybe make it freeware even.
