Those boards are fun. I'll admit, I'm a semi-avid chess fan. A simplistic game that is endlessly challenging, easily taught, and played the world over.
Little history for those interested: Chess boards containing peices with hollow cavities or vessels for liquids can be found dating as far back as the 1500's. Though often just filled with wine or semi-rich liquor, more serious matches included king-peices filled with not liquor but deadly poison. The loser truly understood "game over."
