I got a stereo system for my car and the power cord is about 1-2 feet shorter then I need it to be. I have it as tight as it will get going from the trunk of my car to the cars battery. I was just wondering if I could splice 2 power cords together? I have 2 and I would just cut off about 1-2 feet off the other cord I have lying around. I just didn't know if that would be more of a fire hazard or if the sound quality would be a little worse or not. I am open for suggestions.
Also How do you hook up a stereo system to an amp? My amp is all hooked up, power, av cables, ground, remote wire. I don't know which speaker wires go were. I have 2 positive and negative speaker wire slots on the sub, but I only have 1 positive and 1 negative on the amp. I am very confused.
I know that the amp and speakers work cause I bought them off of a friend. I know that the amp is hooked up right so far, but I don't know how to hook up the sub. I think I could figure out the problem if my power cord was a little longer. everytime I move my amp or sub the power wire gets pulled out.
