First thing: You should go and talk to your cable company about picking up a splitter and cable. The stuff you buy from Radio Shack isnt really good. I have been to a few service calls already that have had problems related to buying shoddy cable equipment.

Second thing: You may not need an amplifier. In fact, unless you have a signal meter (not just a multimeter), and know what you are doing, I wouldnt recommend using an amplifier at all.

Third thing: This is my advice on how to do what you are trying to do. Put in your splitter into the cable that is feeding your existing TV. Run one leg of that splitter to the existing TV, and the other to your new TV. DO NOT TOUCH the cable for you BroadBand Modem. If you notice the reception on either TV go bad, or your cable modem doesnt work, undo what you just did. Then, call your cable company to get them to come out and set things up for you.
