This one confused me because it feels too open.

I could just say "Because they aren't used." but I know thats not it.

For number four, how about blackmailing? When you send someone blackmail, you are sending them a "black letter", no?

Well one of answers had binary in it.. so i was half there...

Well, if their house is built on a hill, on a slant, then walking to the bathroom would be going downhill.. as they are staying at home.

not probably even close to the right answer, but it was worth a try.
