Is it just me or is this the stupidest crap on the planet. I just don't get it. Everything looks the same and the cartoons are so freaking stupid I want to pound my head against the wall!

I hope I'm not alone here.....

What am I missing??? Why is this shitt so popular?? Cartoons in my day were awesome and funny and WELL DRAWN and had good voice overs. The crap today has horrible acting and most of the time the mouths don't even move!! What's up with that???

It's mostly for kids, isn't it? I think they just do it because the animation is cheap.

Depends on what you watch, some is real crap, but some is good.
the ones i watch are meant for 14-18 yr olds, not kids, some are really violent.

That's because the Yanks seem to grab the first person off the street to do the english voice overs. Eg. Macross II (one of the worse English Dubs) as one some editor from a magazine doing the voice of the main character. It was really really bad.
Personally, I prefer Orginal Jap Dialogue with Subtitles.

Considering that there is more anime and there is live action stuff in Japan, the producers do have to appeal to a wide audience.
As I remember, there is a few porn versions of STAR TREK in the US.

Over all, DIFFERENT FOLKS ; DIFFERENT STROKES.

The other thing is that the japanese don't see nudity as being a big deal. After all, we are talking about a country where the communitiy bath house is a common thing, let alot the possiblity that the family might all take a bath at the same.
And a lot of the time, (one of the reasons why i am glad I moved out) my parents would walk into the Television room at about the only time that there was some nudity in entire 26 episode TV Series. And thier thoughts are "Porno Cartoons"

Trust me, there are worse things than XXX anime (hentia).
Try looking into FURRIES or EROTIC FURRIES some time.
Heck, I stuck living with an EROTIC TRANSFORMER FAN.

That japanese are not the only people that make "cartoons" for kids.

I would not be showing the following cartoons to a 5 year old.

Sex and Violence and Rock'n'Roll in your typical Heavy Metal Weirdness Sort Of Way. A cult classic.

More Violence in your typical Heavy Metal Weirdness Sort Of Way. It's hard to believe that this was done by the same people that animated TITAN AE (in the same year too).

This one is just wrong... not mension BORING.

Nuclear War, The Apocalypse and most rememberable line for this film by "Take that you son of a B****" as this little wizard offs the evil wizard with a revolver.

Just wondering, what animes have you seen? I agree that lots of anime is total crap, but there are also some excellent ones. You might want to check out Akira or Ninja Scroll.
