I'm not looking for legal advice, I just want to know if anyone's had similar experience trying to find work after a crime. say you have a misdemeanor on your record, how hard/easy is it to find work on your own? Does anyone know? Cause I've got it pretty bad

Depends what it is - sexual offenses / violent / drug related crime will normaly prohibbit you from working with minors an the vulnerable.

agreed with saxon.... it depends. I have like 4 misdemeanors but I can get a job anywhere. they are traffic violations. misdemeanors are minor laws that most jobs will ignore. now if it's misdemeanor theft/sex/drugs those may knock you out of certain workfields, but there are always other jobs that will overlook those still yet

misdermeanor knocked down from a felony(i forget the type) the basics are theft, conspiracy to commit embezzlement and now I'm serving probation time. I don't know whether or not I should put it on my applications seeing that the places I'm applying either ask or want me to explain lol. I can't really figure out how to explain the specifics. plus the job market in vegas sucks right now

thats probably going to hinder your employability (is that a word lol?)...most employers will frown upon a theft/embezzlement conviction. i would put it down, at first anyways...if they look, they will find it and then you will really look stupid. a lot of places do background checks nowadays. i wouldn't even apply for a job where you were expected to handle money...that aint gonna happen.

i am sure in veagus there is a bi law that stops you from working in a place that has a gaming licence for marks on your record like that.

lol yeah. I can't work with a gaming license or a casino with a record, maybe i'll try walmart. it's fine though, most of the places I've applied have either not called or for the most part have been very non-responsive about hiring, is it just the market here?

lol, it's funny that you mention that. I had a buddy with a degree in sound/stage production whose opening his own cyber cafe. like, wow, waste of money ?
