128 Kbps - Good or Bad Quality?

Alright :D. An opinion poll. A simple question. I'd also like to hear your reasons and opinions if you will :p.

128 Kbps MP3 Music, Good or Baaaad Quality?

My opinion and reason:

My opinion?...Baaaad

Well, the standard Compact Disc Digital Audio has audio tracks at bitrates of 1411.2 Kbps...

...since bitrate is 44100 samples/s × 16 bit/sample × 2 channels = 1411.2 Kbps...

Which means, tracks on an audio CD (CDDA) have 11x the audio quality of 128 Kbps MP3 music files...

...because 1411.2 Kbps / 128 Kbps = 11 (Rounded)

I try not to go below 192.

if i am ripping of a CD, i normally use lossless.

If I'm ripping a CD then I go with losless, but if I'm putting it onto my mp3 player (512mb :( ) then I convert it to 128kb mp3s....I can't tolerate anything less then 96.

I prefer 192 kbps and higher. There is a obvious sound difference. :)

I just use 192kbps, the sound quality is fine for me at that point. But i cant stand 128kbps.

I can't stand 128kbps. Even 192 is a little annoying at times. Most of my music is 320kbps, which I believe is CD quality.

You know, it depends on the speaker quality. If you're listening on cheapish headphones, it often doesn't make much of a difference, but if you're listening on a good hi-fi, it's night and day.

128kbps is okay on my PC. It sounds pretty clear. But when it's on my Creative Zen MP3 player, it sounds pretty bad.
