Default ThinkPad T23 problem....

My daughter purchased a reconditioned T23 with Wi Fi capability. I have no experience with laptops or wireless. Yesterday she was in a coffee house that was Wi Fi capable, so she was hoping to try it out for the first time. Turned on the laptop and nothing happened. There is no ISP loaded into the laptop. Does she need one? Where is the wireless card to see if there is one. Its supposed on 802.11b. Any suggestions?

Do you had a modem in your house?

Finished With TF.

And ISP stand for Internet Sevice Provider, such as America Online, Veriozon DSL, SBC Yahoo DSL, Charter, etc. Their shoud be a Wi-Fi card on the back or sides of the laptop. You can also purchase a router if you have one. Those Wi-Fi cards usually come with a 1hertz adapter that attaches to the router port. Giving the internet signal in 802.11b. She should then click Internet Explorer to setup a LAN. Now She doesnt need a NIC card since her Wi-Fi is one. And when she clicks IE it will bring up a connection wizard that you will have to click access through LAN which means Local Area Network. Which is something you have if you have two or more computers on the same network sharing the bandwith. Hope that helps, send me a PM if you need more detailed clarification. GOOD LUCK
