Default Restart Failure, HELP

My computer will not restart. I have to choose shutdown. If I choose restart, my monitor will shut off-computer still sounds as if it's running with no change. At this point, I can't shut it off with the on/off switch or the reset switch. I have to disconnect power and reconnect. I then can power up via on/off switch. Prior, I had a video card go bad due to a bent pin on my monitor cable. I was able to fix the monitor connector and got a new video card. Now I'm left with the problem above. Think MoBo went bad?

What OS are you running? If it's windows 98 second edition, try installing the windows 98 shutdown supplement (available from Microsofts website).
If you're not using 98se or if supplement doesn't solve the problem, then goto MS website anyway and do a search on shutdown/restart problems for your OS.

There are many possible causes for your problem (such an ACPI/APM power management issue) & it would take me ages to list them all here but it almost certainly won't be a faulty motherboard.
