Question Probably USB hardware problem....?????

I everybody, i have a P3 with a Asus cuv4x MD, a little old.
My modem is a Siemens Santis USB, when i'm downloading with Azureus, Kazaa, eMule, etc . and at the same time i want to view a site with IE i loose my data signal.
other example is when i'm printing a doc ( with a USB connection too) and everytime i click on a link to view a site, a popup error appear saying that the doc stop to print.

Seems that exists a conflict or is to mutch data for the USB hardware.
I already install a patch from via but the problem persist.

Any idea?? Any Suggestion??

Thanks

You are getting that message while printing & trying to view web sites simultaneously because although you have 2 usb ports, they are sharing a single controller. (with a single IRQ).

As both the modem & printer can be sending & receiving relatively high volumes of data, the USB controller probably isn't able to handle both at once.
USB printers in particular don't like sharing with some other usb devices while they are printing.

The Asus CUV4x should have a second USB controller onboard. If so, you would need to attach an internal USB connection cable with a back panel outlet to the 2nd USB controller on the mobo. If you bought the mobo as retail, it should come with this kit.

This should solve your problem if you connect printer to one controller & modem to the other one

Yes, my mobo came with that 2nd controller and i've already try to connect the printer and the modem separately, but the problem persist.

Thanks

What IRQs are assigned to the USB controllers?
Are they sharing with each other or any other devices, if so, which ones?

On the Device Manager i have something like this:

USB controlers
- USB Root Hub
- USB Root Hub
- VIA Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host Controler
- VIA Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host Controler

I have 4 USB ports on total.
The 1st and 2nd show the Power Required, the 3rd and 4th show that IRQ is 9 on both.
If the problem is with the IRQ how can i attribute a new diferent IRQ for one. It is possible???

P.S: what is the difference between USB Root Hub and the other ( VIA Rev.....)????

Thanks

Forgot to ask, are your USB ports v1.1 or v2.0?
Are your USB devices (in particular the modem) v1.1 or v2.0?

Good news that all USB is same version, rules out any compatibility issues there.
As for the IRQ thing, which operating system are you using?
