Hi!
I have a DVD writer which is:

ASUS 16 x 16 DVD + and - , 4x DL.
and when I try to burn files the speed is only like : 1 or 2 x. fast is that right? Can I do anything about it or just that's how it is working?
Please help!

1 or 2X? no man that dont sound right, I just bought a nec 16x burner, and that burns anywhere between 12x and 18x depending on what im doing, I however am running modified filmware in it to get these speeds, but you may want to look into flashing your drive with updated or modified filmware for this drive. You should be able to get updated filmware here http://www.asus.com/support/download...exact&item=DVD , or will probally have to look around to find modified.

yes it does, I usually buy brand name media, I tried the no name stuff and it didnt work out well, was burning alot slower and alot of errors on disk, I can burn the better quality 8x media alot higher than 8x if I want to, maybe go pick up a couple of disks to see if it helps. I use Benq 8x+r These are a good disk for a reasonable price

Oh definetly pick up the namebrands. I always burn FujiFilm DVD's. Work great at 8x in my burner.

I just wanted to update you on the media I recomended, I hope you didnt go out and buy the benq media, I have had some good luck with benq media at first, but out of 50 disks i have about 20 of them that would make better coasters than dvd's, I am sorry about recomending them, but I am now using taiyo Yuden 8x media, so far I havent had one problem at all with any disk, I have also tried Sony and Verbatim, these are also really good, but with the Taiyo-Yuden the quality is the best and speeds are great.
