Exclamation DVD-Rom help Please!!!!

I have a DELL and it has a Lite-On DVD-Rom drive. MY computer crashed and when i reinstalled the OS it didnt recognize the drive so i went to the website for Dell and dowloaded what i think what a flash prgram but i am not for sure. Does anybody have an idea of what the program was and how to fix the problem without sending my computer to Dell? Thank You.

Are we talking a desktop? When you say "don't recognize" are you saying that it just doesn't play when a disc is inserted or is it not seen in "my computer/explorer"? When you start the computer does the lights ever blink on the DVD ROM? Open the computer and check the connections of all cables, if this doesn't fix then swap cables.
3 different OS, so yep I\'m confused.
