Default Diskette Drive 1 Seek Failure

Does anyone know what this means?

My sister's computer says this when you turn it on. First the computer acts as if it's going to start up and then it says Diskette Drive 1 Seek Failure and nothing works.

The computer is a Dell OptiPlex GX1.

Any help please?

Make sure there's no floppydisk in the drive.
Also check the cables to your floppydrive and check the BIOS settings.

Press "Del" at startup, as soon as it lists the harddrives etc. (sometimes F9-F12)
The key('s) are diplayed on the screen.

Then looks for primary boot device and make sure the HD-0 or HD-1 or C: or HD is the first primary boot device in the boot sequence.

When it's starting up I tried pressing "Del" but nothing happened and at the top of the screen it says F2 = Setup and I also tried that but it says "Entering Setup" and then it goes to "Diskette Drive 1 Seek Failure"

Diskette drive 1 seek failure A cable may be loose, or the system configuration information may not match the hardware configuration.

Default USB Printer

Had a similar problem and it turns out that my new hp printer was the problem. Try unplugging any usb items and see if it still hangs. Mine still says message but quickly goes past it and loads windows like normal.
