Angry Booting problems

I recently had computer problems which ended to the scratching of my old system. I ended up purchasing a refurbished system and I wanted to place my old Hard Drive which still works into the old system. The refurbished system ran a HD with Windows ME on it, the HD i replaced into it has Windows XP.

when I booted the system up the bios saw and recognized the new HD. but when it tried to boot the drive it gave me a NTLDR is missing error.

the XP HD works and is readable as the slave to the ME HD but I require that the XP drive be the master in the system.

I was unsure where to post this because it is both hardware and OS problem.

Hope someone can help.

What type of Operating System did that hard drive work with before. Maybe its a Windows 95 only jacket up drive. Did you check your Bios..?

Finished With TF.

try a google search for " ntldr is missing" youll get a few things to try. basically boot files are missing or the comp isnt recognizing them. this is quite common when you switch out a hard drive and try to boot it using a different computer. if all else fails, format and reinstall

You can't place your old HDD in a new system with new hardware. You have to format and reinstall OS in XP HD with your new system in place.

Re-install, don't format if you don't want to lose files.
