OK to give a little background:
Everything was fine last night. I found some icons in the taskbar today that kept saying I have a problem. That seems virusy right there. When I tried to pull up the Task Manager it said administrator had cancelled that option, which is a big problem b/c I'm the owner. I found an online guide, downloaded ad-aware or something. But I was also doing other things in the background, cleaning up temp files et al, and suddenly the computer had to shut down on 30 secs warning. When it restarted Windows Security popped up saying I was fine on the first two fronts but had no virus scanner. I was surprised b/c I have Rogers Online Security, which I thought included a virus scanner but I figured it didnt, and I told it to get me one, dont know why b/c I meant to get AVG. Subsequently things have gotten much worse, so I suppose that was part of the virus. Whereas earlier I could type a code into the Run menu to bring my Task Manager, now when I type that code in I still cant. I also tried to run Ad-Aware after downloading it and a suposed virus alert comes up and doesnt let me run it. I cant do any of the house cleaning things now that is typically done before a HiJack log b/c it wont let me. Thankfully it did let me do a hijack log tho!

One of the problems is this directory called AnVi in Program Files but even tho I'm in safe mode right now I cant erase it. I hope this log can solve some problems from where I can then do some other house cleaning. Please also let me know if I need to have any other software installed to clean / prevent this.

Also any idea how this could've happened? I'm fairly careful w/ my browsing and as far as I know Rogers Online Protection is heavy on resources b/c its TOO comprehensive. I was considering getting rid of it and getting AVG instead. Actually even now, should I replace it w/ AVG?

Thanks!
Dan
