Win Fixer

I just removed win fixer off of 2 different PCs. The one pc the mouse would not work, and win fixer blew away the drivers for the vid , so the screen was 640 x 480. It was also windows me so there was not a safe mode with networking and also in win ME the cdrom does not work in safe mode. Finally got it cleaned out. The second PC , eveything you clicked on said " this option not allowed " + the vid drivers had been blown away also.
If a rootkit is being installed HJT WILL NEVER FIND IT

OWWWWWWW that sounds UGLY!

If a rootkit with a RAT is installed, best bet is to do a complete wipe and reinstall, all pw and vital info has (probably) been compromised

Little confused by your post. Are you saying you need RootkitRevealer to remove Winfixer? Not required. Also RootkitRevealer is only for NT based systems..so it won't work on Windows 95, 98, ME.

Winfixer is a program installed by either the Vundo or Smitfruad infections. Sounds like you had the Smitfruad infection as that changes the desktop.
