Hi,
a few days ago, I got some nasty virus and spywares on my PC. One of them launched an html page on my desktop, with a message warning me that my PC wan't safe. I could still see the various icons on my desktop but I couldn't see my wallpaper(background). I right-clicked my desktop and went to 'view source' and I saw the following:
src="file:///C:/WINDOWS/desktop.html" frameBorder=0 scrolling=no

I went to the WINDOWS folder and deleted that 'desktop.html' file, but it didn't change anything. Then I deleted everything in the html code and I saved it. By doing that I got a blank flashing html instead with the following code:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
<!----
***** This file is automatically generated by Microsoft Windows *****
--------><HTML><HEAD>
<META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=windows-1252"></HEAD>
<BODY
style="BORDER-RIGHT: medium none; BORDER-TOP: medium none; BORDER-LEFT: medium none; BORDER-BOTTOM: medium none"
bottomMargin=0 bgColor=#004e98 leftMargin=0 background="" topMargin=0
rightMargin=0>
<DIV
style="LEFT: 0px; WIDTH: 1152px; POSITION: absolute; TOP: 0px; HEIGHT: 864px">
Wallpaper1.bmp

</DIV><IFRAME id=0
style="BACKGROUND: none transparent scroll repeat 0% 0%; LEFT: 0px; WIDTH: 1152px; POSITION: absolute; TOP: 1px; HEIGHT: 833px"
name=DeskMovrW marginWidth=0 marginHeight=0
src="file:///C:/WINDOWS/desktop.html" frameBorder=0 scrolling=no
subscribed_url="C:\WINDOWS\desktop.html" resizeable=""> </IFRAME>
<OBJECT id=ActiveDesktopMover
style="LEFT: 0px; VISIBILITY: hidden; WIDTH: 0px; POSITION: absolute; TOP: 0px; HEIGHT: 0px; container: positioned; zIndex: 5"
classid=clsid:72267F6A-A6F9-11D0-BC94-00C04FB67863></OBJECT>
<OBJECT id=ActiveDesktopMoverW
style="Z-INDEX: -1; LEFT: -1px; VISIBILITY: hidden; WIDTH: 1154px; POSITION: absolute; TOP: 0px; HEIGHT: 835px; container: positioned"
classid=clsid:72267F6A-A6F9-11D0-BC94-00C04FB67863></OBJECT>
</BODY></HTML>

Now, I can't find the 'desktop.html' file anymore and I tried to delete the 'Wallpaper1.bmp' file, it keeps coming back. I don't know what to do now. I used Panda, Bitdefender and Trend-micro Housecall to remove some viruses that were on my PC and Ad-Aware to remove ad-wares and Spyware, but I still can't get rid of that html file from my desktop. Below is my HJT log. Thank you

Denium, I'm missing the top part of your hijack log...which has important info that I need.

I can tell you right now that most of your problem is caused by that toolbar, FlashGet, which you can be getting rid of in the add/remove and then post another HiJack log for me with the top part that has your operating system on there, the date and time. And then I can get the rest of the log analyzed. Liz

Hi,
Thank you for your response. Hijackthis doesn't seem to be working anymore on my PC. When I run it, it says:" Re-directing to hosts", then it closes itself after a few seconds.

Not sure what to do. That strange html page is still on my desktop and I don't know how to get rid of it. It seems to between my the icons on my desktop and my wallpaper.

By the way, I removed 'Flashget' and all of its components, but the problems remains....
