Although we are using different ISP, the fact is that we all need a Modem for network connection.

My Modem type is NEC-R100, and its Alarm light turned on frequently during mid-night period since Monday.
(If the Alarm light turns on, that means the network connecton is blocked.)

I was wondering if there was due to the attack of virus? But that 's surely silly of me to think that virus would attack Hardware rather than software.

What do you think?

you might also use a rootkit detector, there are several free ones
while one could make low level calls in attempt to attack hardware, i have seen such source, i'd say its rather unlikely

you are probibly just experiencing proxy downtime, you could always check by going to whatismyip.com and type that into your address bar of your internet browser, this should take you to your router/gateway(modem) settings, take a look at the firewall log in there. And for the record, "hardware firewalls" are just software firewalls that are installed on an external peice of hardware.
