I have been reading various posts on this site and am beggining to get worried at the saftey of my pc.

I run Windows xp service pack 2

F-secure Anti-virus client security

I would put a anti-spyware program on also but last time i did this my computer crashed regularly. I regularly use microsofts malicious code scanner. I have windows firewall turned on. my internet comes through a router with abuilt in firewall. Am i safe?

doesnt F secure use a firewall too? if your using windows and also f secure it could cause problems.

Not being able to install anti spyware software doesnt sound right I use at least 4 programs. I wouldnt use multiple anti virus programs though can cause many problems.

I would stop using windows firewall and try comodo or zonealarm. Do not install both! only ever use 1 software firewall.

comodo:

zonealarm:
http://www.zonelabs.com/store/conte...alm/freeDownload.jsp?dc=12bms&ctry=US&lang=en

Also check out these programs they help prevent spyware from changing your comp settings and from accessing your computer:

Spyware blaster (stops hijacking of your browser and blocks spyware):

Spyware guard (real time monitoring for suspicious behaviour):
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareguard.html

Winpatrol (real time monitoring of registry changes and suspicious behaviour):
http://www.winpatrol.com/download.html

Also did you pay for f secure? if not then maybe its the cause of your spyware software not working and might consider an alternative. Check my sig for 5 free anti virus programs.
