Used Spybot, Ad-Aware, etc, cleanses my system very well. But after that, even if I'm connected to my router and not my browser, various spyware is there almost immediately. How the heck can I prevent spyware? Removal is no goo if the spyware is back almost in an instant.

what kind of spyware do you have?

Download Microsoft antispy and run it in safemode.

also, disable everything but your av in msconfig

Hi and Welcome to TF

You need to first remove the spyware..and then you'll be given advice on tools to use so you can prevent it from getting in the system in the first place.

Before attacking an adware/spyware problem with hijackthis make sure you have already run the following tools. Download and update the databases on each program before running.

Also make sure you are using the the latest version (1.99.1) of HijackThis and it's installed in it's own folder on the root drive. (C:\HJT)

Please go to at least two of these sites and run an online Virus Scan.
Be sure to have the AutoFix box(s) checked if the site has that option.

Once you complete those steps....download hijackthis...do a scan, save the log and post it in the hijackthis forum!

I should add that I use only Firefox. I also use Bullguard, Microsoft Antispyware, and run Spybot, Ad-Aware, and Spyware Blaster programs. I STILL get spyware.....:(

Post a Hijackthis log, and you will most likly get some spyware now and then,

I use more then u and a tracking cookie sneaks by like once a month.

In Internet Explorer 6 go to the Tools menu, select Internet Options and click the Privacy tab. Then click the "Advanced . . ." button; in the smaller window that pops up, check the box next to "Override automatic cookie handling" and choose "Block" under the "Third-party Cookies" heading. Click the OK button to confirm that setting.

In Mozilla Firefox, go to the Tools menu, select Options and click the Privacy icon. Click the Cookies heading to display the cookie-acceptance policy, then check the box next to "for the originating Web site only." Click the OK button.
