Re: Tech-Forums Top Rated Antivirus

Hiya Guys,

My personal opinion was four AV which were: AVG 8 (I use it ;)), NOD32, Kasperky, and Avira Antivir.

AVG 8 - Great Anti-Virus. It has a total new reform on the GUI which is a plus for me because I hated working with that old drab Windows 98 looking version. Onto more important things, the definitions files. I personally really like the new AVG 8 as they put in an anti-spyware scanner inside the anti-virus scanner making my double scan methods obsolete. Ofcourse I still run over with SpyBot just to make sure but AVG usually picks up everything and 'heals' it for me.

NOD32 - The best currently on the market. Has the largest definitions database and it is fast scanning. Just an all around great program. I can't speak much for it because I never had it but I have seen great reviews and other members of the MR Community have told me it's a great program.

Kasperky - I use their online scanner for users and it always picks up something in the end. Kasperky is best for server security.

Avira AntiVir - To tell the truth, I don't really like them but I have to say it's a great free AV. I don't really like the GUI or the way it updates which always makes me not use it. I would recommend it to a user due to it being free.

Re: Tech-Forums Top Rated Antivirus

Currently using Nod32, it runs pretty quiet in the background... heard AVG runs badly for users that are using Vista because some people had their avg thought some system files are viruses or something I guess and deleted it. But currently downloading AVG just to see how it works!

Re: Tech-Forums Top Rated Antivirus

I've always used AVG, I've tried others but there's something about AVG that does it for me. I agree with Techpro that the updated GUI is an improvement over the old one. A vast improvement.

I put a lot of faith into AVG and although I've currently never had a virus since about '95 when things were more unreliable, I know that AVG will be able to find, and heal any virus I might get in the future.

Re: Tech-Forums Top Rated Antivirus

does avg still have the conflict of finding tons of false positives on machines with spybot installed?

I believe it still does. Last time I checked anyways.

I think Grisoft said that it wasn't AVGs problem, but it was SpyBots problem and they weren't going to release a patch for it. That's the last thing I remember.
