System slowed way down, start up and shut down takes minutes instead of seconds...

Hi all. Ok I have a Q6600 w/8gb or RAM. It has worked well for a couple of years. Recently got lots of messages from Kaspersky about trojan horses and such. Kaspersky has said it cleaned up everything.

BUT, system is so slow now.

Applications that took 1-2 seconds to open and close now require nearly a minute [such as Firefox].

Not sure what to do.

Please help me if you can.

You should use multiple antivirus/spyware software rather than just one that is if it is a virus slowing you down. Also make sure to uninstall the extra antivirus software after you are done with the scans, as having more than one can cause conflicting problems.
