Hello, first post here, I suspect some kind of malware so I'm posting it in this section, but I'm not sure. My pc with Windows XP has a problem of consuming way too much memory, the service (svchost in task master) that provides windows audio (and probably other things as well), starts fine, and grows and grows etc, to a gig and more, I can end it but it starts back up slowing down the pc a lot, any ideas? thanks for any help

You need to get Process Manager from SysInternals and find out exactly what services are attached to that specific instance of svchost. That is a very common process within Windows and can grow very large.

thanks, i will do that, I'm familiar with Process Manager as it is on my computer, the problem pc is my sons, one thing I do know that when I end that particular svchost on task manager I lose Windows Audio in services and probably some others, thanks again for your time, I need to get this resolved as it cripples my sons pc
