Hi,

today i got this process running, it is called SVCHOST.EXE(yes it is in CAPS), it appears in D:\WINDOWS\SVCHOST.EXE(D:\windows is my system directory, not in C:), i cannot see it because i think it is hidden, so when i go to folder options > view > check show hidden files and folders..i click apply/OK, and then straight away changes back to "don't show hidden files and folders", so i think this is file is preventing me from allowing me to see hidden files and folders..

Yes, but the one that doesn't cause problems are at D:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe, not at D:\WINDOWS\svchost.exe..and in taskmanager, it is Svchost.exe..and all of a sudden there is SVCHOST.EXE(in caps)..this isn't normal.

Svchost runs at the system level, not the OS install level, .. so the root of Windows doesn't make sense and should be ended through whatever reg entries were added

I sure hate to be the bearer of bad news but SVCHOST.EXE is the problem. If it was all lowercase, then it wouldn't be, 99% of the time, but this computer is a mess so here I go
Uninstall Radar Sync Toolbar

Remove these entries manually or is safemode

D:\WINDOWS\SVCHOST.EXE

Remove these entries using hijackthis

If you havne't go thru my guide, please do so now and then post a new guide

Are you running a proxy? I see some unusual but safe entries in your LSP, if you are running one, why are you?

Hi,

no, i am not running a proxy..and i can't delete the file because when i enable "Show hidden files and folders" it goes back to "Don't show hidden files and folders" when i click ok..and the thing is, when i kill SVCHOST.EXE process, it only comes back up when i enter D:\ or C:\ drive.

also, i can't enter safemode for some reason, when i go into safemode and then the WINDOWS LOGIN SCREEN COMES UP, i click administrator and my computer restarts..

here's my hijackthislog:

ok, open Hijackthis, click none of the above just start the program, click config, misc tools, delete a file on reboot, either browse to D:\WINDOWS\SVCHOST.EXE or copy and paste it into hijackthis and then hijackthis will ask you if you want to reboot now, click yes. Then scan again and post a new log

wasn't bad as I thought

Agreed. Yea, I often just ignore svchost and the past potentially "harmful" bugs that people have developed to run inside a mocking svchost.exe at the install root. But after he mentioned the 2nd process running, I looked again and saw it ... thought to myself, "hehe, thats stinks but it's just going to be more of an annoyance."
