Possible virus on Vista

Hey all,

My sister's pc seems to have a possible virus. Here are the specs:

32-bit Vista Home premium Sp1

AMD Athalon 64 x2 Dual core 4600 processor - 2.40 GHz

2GB od DDR2 RAM

The problem seems to be a popup appearing, posing as windows saying that there is multiple problems including viruses.

However, my sister has scanned using Bit Defender and found no problem.

I'm just wondering whether this is an easy fix or whether a format will be required?
