I still cannot update spybot. I do not even get to the point where it lists updates to select it just will not connect to the internet. It gives me the error that I posted above.

i disabled all the norton services i could one service is still running called "Symantec SPBBCSvc" for some reason i cannot stop that. Now that the services are stopped it is letting me uninstall norton which i could not before.

Did you want to delete Norton? Uninstall and reinstall Spybot

norton is gone. i can now update my various antivirus programs. norton was just a thing that came with the computer
