Hello. I would like to know how I can potentially keep (advertisements) from continually loading on my computer.

Sometimes I see 'flashing' in the bottom left corner of my screen..and I know that it is 'downloading' unwanted material and the flashing is a distraction.

Any and all responses welcome. Any help provided is always appreciated.

Bye

How can you keep ads off your computer?
1) Don't go to suspicious websites.
2) Install an adblocker in your browser (I suggest µBlock: https://www.ublock.org/ )
3) Have a decent AV if you're an inexperienced user (I recommend Avira as it's free and great: Avira Free Antivirus - Download the best free antivirus software )

What do you mean you see flashing? Can you please post a screenshot of what exactly you mean by this?

I'd recommend running some scans on your system. Please go through the following instructions:

Firstly, run a scan with Malwarebytes Antimalware (the Free version is fine, you don't need to activate the Pro trial). Scan with it, delete whatever it finds, reboot and post the log here. Download it from here:
https://www.malwarebytes.org/mwb-download/

Secondly, run a scan with AdwCleaner. Same as above, scan with it, delete what it finds, post the log file here. Download from here:
AdwCleaner Download

Thirdly, run a scan with HiJackThis. Run it as Admin, pick the "scan and generate log" option, and then post the logfile here. Do NOT remove ANYTHING unless told to do so, as removing the wrong entry can damage your system. Download it from here:

Yep, malwarebytes and Adblock plus usually do the trick..if you want to get really fancy you can modify java-script running and block certain scripts with add-ons...you can create blacklists of sub-pages and even block specific CSS templates.

I don't recommend AdBlock Plus anymore, since they're adding in whitelisted ads themselves. It's also a bit resource intensive compared to uBlock.

uBlock ftw. uBlock has a nicer interface for turning it on/off too
