Internet connection lost!

I have quite a strange problem. My internet connection seems to be lost although the activity light on my modem is flashing. The weird part is this: although i can be talking on AIM (verifying that i do have an internet connection), when i try to open internet explorer, lime wire, or to update virus definitions, i am unable to connect. So im online with AIM but other programs cannot reach the internet. Why is this? Could i have a virus? Avast home edition and the trend micro online virus scanners havent found anything. Any help would be great!

Have you tried HijackThis!? The AVs might not find a hijacker. If you use HijackThis, don't fix anything unless you're sure what to fix.

Thanks for your response. The problem has apparently resolved itself! But as long as im posting my log im wondering if you could fix this problem: The first three items continue to come back instantly after i delete them, do you know how to permanently get rid of the first three items? They changes the page that comes up when i open IE, but the home button on my browser still brings me to my original home page. And my homepage under internet options is still what i want it to be. I delete it but it continues to come back. Any help with that would be great.
