I had this same spyware yesterday afternoon. I spent 3 hours trying to get it fixed, but didn't have much success. It would not let me get into IE, AVG, or any other .exe file. This morning I was able to open up AVG in Safe mode and it found a trojan horse in the following items:
C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\OWNER\LOCAL SETTINGS\APPLICATION DATA\AV.EXE
C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\OWNER\LOCAL SETTINGS\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\Z6YKKFSX\in[1]htm
I can now "backdoor" my way into most of my programs, but can not get into hardly any of them from my desktop. It keeps telling me the PC doesn't know what program to open them up with.
Does anyone have any idea why I am still having problems getting into my desktop files?
I was able to go into my favorites and navigate my way back into IE
