I keep ending this task in my task manager and it keeps popping up again, and it goes as high as 40k mem usage.

i have a virus?

Many tasks need iexplore.exe to run even if you are not browsing the net. But as has been said, its not a virus (arguably!)

ok thanks. i'm aware that this is a microsoft program, but i was very suspicious since it keeps popping up (normally it wouldn't pop up again) as well as the huge use of memory. (40k wtf)

i have a explorer.exe which i googled and it said it was a virus but when i end task everything goes so i click new task n type it in and everything comes back. wts going on:S

I'ts not a virus. This is the user shell for windows, thats why when you killed it, you lost everything till you brought it back

iexplore.exe is Internet Explorer but it can be related to spyware especially if you have several of these in the task manager not counting several opened IE sessions
