My auto-protection virus scanner (this run in the background) was disabled. Then all the features on norton anti virus was disabled. I have been getting error messages that suggest that files are missing. i cannot paste into ms word or load help menu's. I can't go onto 'system restore' because there is no start menu therefore i cannot access any programs! I cant even download updates from microsoft because the page will not load. Is there any other way of getting to system restore other than using the start menu. What is the name of the file that is stored in the 'windows' folder?

Do you have any other AVs on your computer? If not, try downloading AVG and run it.
It may also be helpful to run whatever spyware removers that you have.
