I have this URL that keeps on appearing as my homepage. I keep on changing the home page to blank and after rebooting, it returns to this URL. It points to a site in geocities that doesn't exist. It really does nothing, but it annoys me. I always want my IE to start blank.
I tried editing the registry at hkey_current_users - software - microsoft - Internet Explorer - main modified the the Default_URL entry to about:blank. I aso did it with hkey_local_machine. It keeps on coming back.
I formatted my hard disk (for other reason). It is partitioned, I only formatted the drive C:. After reinstalling Windows 98S, I fund out that there it is again.

I have no idea what is this. Trojan, worm, spyware, malware whatever it is I want to get rid of this. I anybody can help me.

Thanks for any help;)

if you download Spybot S&D there is a function where you can lock your homepage and it cannot be changed unless you specify it to do so in Spybot.

If the advice above doesn't work then give this a shot :
Download CWShredder:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/CWShredder.exe
Run and hit the ->fix tab to fix all found problems

CWShredder takes advantage of security holes in windows so you should install all critical as well as hotfixes available from windows update.

Then repost a fresh Hijack this log .

Download 'Hijack This!'. http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ or http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloadget.php?id=3155&file=3&evp=3304750663b552982a8baee6434cfc13 and save it to a folder on your desktop.
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log, load it in Notepad, and copy its contents here. Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

ADZ, Never seen that option in spybot, where is it---I know ----stupid question!. I do know someone with the same issue so....?

I had the same problem, highlight in the address bar the page it takes you to then log into google and do a search on it and alot of pages of help will come up, you have to erase 2 .dll's and erase it in your registry.

Bazooka spyware scanner will find it and give you detailed info on how to remove whatever you have. But it wont remove it for you
