Help : Fix sasser virus using flash drive

I need help fixing my roommates laptop. It is an old dell running a custom xp version with no cd drive and a broken diskette drive. It has the sasser virus pretty bad. Wont boot up, not even in safe mode. I have tried a few things but my question is... How would I replace lsass.exe with a good version using a flash drive?

First you would need to get a Linux LiveCD working from your flash drive. Then you would need to copy over this file as well. Then you would need to be able to boot from the Flash Drive to gain access to the hard drive and copy the file over. The only problem is that this is not a guarantee that this will work.
