Having problems with AVG and hotmail

I installed AVG anti virus since it seems to come so highly recommended on this forum. It worked great except it didn't like my hotmail at all . It was super slow when trying to access any of my email. Super, super slow! AVG worked like a charm on all the other websites that I visit but it just didn't like hotmail.

Hotmail has been my email for 8 yrs and I really don't want to change it. Is there any setting that I can change on AVG to make it work better with hotmail?

BTW, since AVG was pretty much incompatible with hotmail, I've uninstalled AVG and now my system is vulnerable .

How are you accessing Hotmail? Sign In or the Windows live GUI? Did you install the AVG toolbar/linkscanner?

I'm using the "sign in." I'm using the Firefox toolbar.

I can't remember if I ever tried it with IE.

I did download Avast that Mak213 mentioned for my main desktop PC at home. So far it seems to be working fine with hotmail using Firefox as my browser.

i use ie7 (currently), and avg and use hotmail

I don't know what you are calling slow of course...my specs plus I'm on 56k....seems ok by me

I'm on cable and AVG would slow hotmail down to an absolute crawl. Probably about what dial up is like if not a little slower.

AVG didn't have any problems with any of my other websites-they were all lightning fast like usual. Hotmail was like molasses.
