If they are both active scanners how would you accomplish that? Turn one of the scanners off then jsut scan with it at random intervals? What is the point then? You could be serioulsy infected by the time it gets found. Why not jsut use a better AV and prevent it?
 
What happens when 1 scanner says it is and 1 scanner says it isnt and the machine basically freezes since it doesnt know which AV applicaiton takes precidence?

To me this jsut shows that AVG is better than Sophos.

I've never had that happen...

I was actually refering to running multiple spyware scanners and to me, AVG is a spyware/virus scanner all in one. So the more the better, but use the best ones you can get.
 
Ahh okay. Well multiple Spyware scanners is fine. But i dont sugest multiple Virus scanners. ;)

Shockingly enough. I had a potential virus found by NOD32 that AVG nor Avast found. It was due to the Vista Drive Icon applicaiton.

It had found it as a potential NewHeur_PE Virus. That is what the log of NOD32 said. Have since uninstalled that app. Just to be sure.
