Computer makes weird 'dink, dink, dink' noise

Hi Guys....

don't know how to explain... just read

1) you know when you have a MS office product open and you leave the little paper clip guy (help guy) on / open.
You know when he [ 'taps' the screen ]... it makes that dink, dink, dink sound?
like a little chirp sound?

2) WELL... one or two or all three for that matter are making that sound at VERY odd times. it is random.
I can barely here it. I'm not sure which computer its coming from, yet only one has speakers.

I think it might be the system PC speaker or what the "beeps" come from.

OSs...
W2k, XP Pro, XP server Pro

3) I'm not sure if its a virus or something downloaded on my machine/network, or what!!!!

4) it driving me crazy I'm paranoid that its a virus and something is taking on my personal information ??? LOL

5) my systems are pretty secure, virus updated, firewall, etc. etc. etc

I just can't track down that noise!!!!!!!!!

ANY ideas or thoughts?

Guess what the problem was?

I attached a new/different monitor to my PC....
when it goes into power save mode, it made the noise

Now are you laughing

yup it happens....but still maybe your computer is sending morse code to hackers to tell them your dirty lilttle secrets
