I got a call from a frind to help remove a virus problem they were haveing. I ran Malware bytes and avast and it cleaned up the major problems the viruse was causing. I was to run spybot but it is unable to connect to the server to update and I cannot register avast because I cannot connect to the website. I can go to google... micrsoft... ect but not the avast website, norton, avg, or any other website that has to do with antivirus. I copied the installers for avast and malwarebytes from a flashdrive. Any ideas on how I can get it to where I can connect to antivirus websites?? The main exe i deleted was bill103.exe... once it was gone... the computer was usable again.

Can you try running the system in "Safe Mode with Networking"? Also before you do that, see if you can download HijackThis.

When you run the system in safe mode, see if you can update your AV and Malwarebytes. If yes, run a scan with the AV see if you picked up anything, then scan with Malwarebytes and lastly HijackThis. Post both Malwarebytes and HijackThis logs.

If you cannot get net in safe mode, please inform when you post back.

I was unable to go to the hijackthis website but I emaild the installer to the computer. I am working on it through logmein so I will be unable to boot into safe mode until monday. Here is the hijackthis log file...

Malware bytes shows up clean as well... when I first ran it this is what I got (below)... I then removed the infected files and was then able to stop the popups and restore the computer to a more usable state. The only thing now is I am unable to go to an antivirus website. I get redirected to an add or the stupid "you are infected" popup comes up and does a fake anitvirus scan or it just says unable to connect to "www.website.com". I cant even ping www.avast.com from the CMD...

Run combofix, malwarebytes and then hijackthis in this order, post their logs when finished.

ran combo fix and it solved my problem.... it deleted 3 or 4 files. I should be able to get the log tomorrow and post it if you want me to. Thanks for the hints!

Id still like to see the logs just to double check

Hi, I was infected by bill103.exe. I manually removed the file (in C:\Windows) and all the registry entries, but I still could not connect to antivirus sites. I ran combofix and it deleted the following files:
c:\windows\bk23567.dat
c:\windows\d.ini
c:\windows\EventSystem.log
c:\windows\fdgg34353edfgdfdf
c:\windows\lgo
c:\windows\ligh
c:\windows\system32\drivers\imapioko.sys
c:\windows\system32\erokosvc.dll

After a reboot my pc is running fine again and I can update my antivirus.
Thx a lot.
