I think I have this thing called SC-Keylogger... I tried to get on my AIM account this morning but my password is no longer what it should be. I ran spybot and got this...

I don't know why it says error during check, but yeah... here's a HJT log.

Thanks, I'm desparate to get rid of this.

Wow I had the samething about 7 years ago.. and I used Norton then too! LOL

Step 1. get rid of Norton, its useless.

Step 2. get Panda or AVG (they do malware not just viruses) scan your system
they will find it and disinfect it immediatly.

If you go with Panda dont get the firewall or at least don't use their firewall as it isn't any better than windows FW infact its worse but their Malware and antivirus protection is outstanding.

Or if you don't want to shell out the $$ for a hi end malware killer then try East tec eraser to do it manually.. find your bogus file and right click and select from the menu Erase behond recovery.

There are other ways to do it I'm sure, I just like things that take care of that stuff for you, hassle free.

I only have Norton cuz my laptop came with it... I uninstalled it right away but I'm sure it's not completely gone.

Anyway, I've tried numerous free removal programs and none of them have worked. Is there a way to navigate through the files and delete it myself?

I did but I didn't see anything specifically for this keylogger... I just don't feel confident that trying a bunch of free spyware/malware removal programs will get rid of it, cuz so far I've tried a lot and it hasn't.

your key logger will be in your system32 folder the funny thing is it will say.. "keylogger"

from what I remember, you may be able to do it with regular right click delete which leads me to believe between the name and the non reactive behavior that it is probably harmless.
Thats like finding a file named Virus.exe almost.. well is, suspect for being fake. being that I have seen it before on my machine and another persons machine and all 3 times that ive seen this Norton was installed.. and we/ you were useing adware programs, something is cooky.

like PCcilin.. you could have a fresh HDD with a fresh OS install and PCcillin will detect the same virus everytime on every machine right after install.
