I used to have Ad-Aware and Spybot paired up as defense on my computer. After a while, though, spybot seemed to just stop picking things up, so i got rid of it and have had adaware ever since. That was about a year ago. Now i feel like i should really get another scanner. What should i go for? i dont want something that opens up every time i start my computer, or something that is 'always on'. i just want something to be able to scan when i want it to.

Windows Defender from Microsoft - it is free and i understand that also remove rootkits
