Default AVG "update control file missing"

Well , the title pretty much sums it up. When I try to update AVG Free , I get an error
message that says "The update control file is missing" and I can't update. I tried
uninstalling/reinstalling and got the same thing. I need help!! Thanks

That didn't seem to help me , so I decided to give Avast a try. Do you think

its a good idea to trust Avast over AVG?

It is personal preference. Both are decent. Both have good detect rates. But some people are partial to one or the other and will always tell you to use the one they choose.

Osiris likes AVG.
I prefer Avast.

So yeah Osiris will say to stick with AVG but he has heard good things about Avast.

There is no right answer. It is what you choose. Avast with it boot time scan of files is a great resource if you ever get infected. But some people still prefer a different AV.
